Break one big PDF into exactly the pieces you need
A single PDF often carries several things that really belong apart: a 200-page manual where you only want the troubleshooting chapter, a scanned batch where every third page is a different invoice, or one oversized file that refuses to attach because it is over an email size limit. Splitting is how you carve that monolith into sensible parts without retyping or re-scanning anything. It is the tool people use to hand a client just their section of a report, to file each statement separately, or to break a long document into chapters that are easier to read and share.
Everything happens locally in your browser, which matters when the document you are dividing is confidential — a legal bundle, a payroll run, or a medical file. The pages never leave your device, and there is no watermark stamped across the results, so each piece is ready to use the moment it downloads.
Extract the odd or even pages
The Odd pages and Even pages modes copy every odd-numbered page (1, 3, 5…) or every even-numbered page (2, 4, 6…) into one new PDF, in their original order. The most common reason is manual double-sided printing: a printer without automatic duplex can print the odd pages first, then the even pages on the backs of the same sheets. It is also handy for duplex scans where the fronts and backs need to be separated, or for keeping only the right-hand pages of a scanned book.
Choose the mode, check the page count shown under the options, and download. The source PDF is never modified, so you can run it twice to get both halves.
Three ways to split, for three different jobs
You can split by custom page ranges when you know exactly which pages form each part — for example pages 1–4 as the summary and 5–20 as the appendix, each saved as its own file. You can split into fixed-size chunks when a document has a regular rhythm, such as one file for every two pages of a double-sided scan. Or you can split into one file per page when you need every page as a standalone document, which is common for archiving forms or separating certificates.
When a split produces several files, they are bundled together so you can download them in one step rather than clicking through them one by one. If your goal is the opposite — pulling out a specific handful of pages into a single new document rather than many files — the Extract Pages tool is the better fit, and Remove Pages is the right choice when you want to keep the document whole but drop a few unwanted pages. Split, extract, and remove overlap a little, but each is tuned for a different everyday task.

What's the difference between splitting by ranges, chunks, and single pages?
Ranges let you define exact parts (e.g. pages 1–4 and 5–20 as two files); fixed-size chunks cut the document every N pages; one-file-per-page turns every page into its own document. Pick whichever matches your task.
How do I extract only the odd or only the even pages?
Choose Odd pages or Even pages as the split mode. Every odd-numbered page (1, 3, 5…) or every even-numbered page (2, 4, 6…) is copied, in order, into one new PDF. The original file isn't changed.
How do I print a PDF double-sided on a printer without duplex?
Make two files: one with the odd pages and one with the even pages. Print the odd file, put the printed stack back in the tray (flipped as your printer needs), then print the even file on the backs. If the backs come out in the wrong order, reverse the even file first with the Reverse PDF tool.
Can I split a PDF to get it under an email size limit?
Yes — splitting a large document into smaller sections is a common way to fit each part under an attachment cap. If size rather than page count is the real issue, the Compress PDF tool may also help.
Do I get one ZIP or separate files?
