Sign documents without printing or scanning
The old workflow for signing a PDF was absurd: print the document, sign it with a pen, scan the signed page, and email the scan back. It wasted paper, required a printer and scanner, and often degraded the document quality. Electronic signing eliminates all of that — you place your signature directly onto the digital document and the result is a clean, signed PDF that never touched a printer.
This tool gives you three ways to create a signature: draw it freehand using a mouse or touchscreen, type your name and select a handwriting-style font, or upload an image of your existing signature. Once created, you position the signature on the page, adjust its size, and download the signed document. The signature is embedded directly into the page content — it is not an annotation that can be removed by a viewer.
How the signature is embedded
When you create a signature — whether drawn, typed, or uploaded — the tool renders it as an image and draws it onto the page at the position and size you specified. The image becomes part of the page content, just like any other graphic element in the PDF. This means it is visible in every viewer, survives printing, and appears in screenshots.
The signature is not a cryptographic digital signature (which uses a certificate to mathematically prove the signer's identity and that the document has not been altered). It is a visual electronic signature — the digital equivalent of signing with a pen. For most everyday documents — contracts, agreements, consent forms, employment paperwork — this is sufficient and widely accepted.
Privacy and practical advice
Your signature is created and placed entirely in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server, never stored in a database, and never associated with an account. This is important because a signature is a piece of personal identity — you do not want it sitting on a third party's server waiting for a data breach.
For the most natural-looking result, sign on a touchscreen device with your finger or a stylus — the stroke captures the pressure and flow of your natural handwriting. If using a mouse, sign slowly and deliberately. And if you already have a clean signature image (white background, dark ink), upload it directly — the tool will place it onto the page with the background removed. Remember to check the preview before downloading to make sure the signature is positioned correctly and does not cover important text.

Is this a legally valid electronic signature?
In most jurisdictions, an image-based electronic signature (like a drawn or typed signature placed on a document) is legally accepted for everyday contracts and agreements — similar to signing a paper document. For transactions that require qualified digital signatures with certificate validation, a government-issued digital ID is needed, which is beyond what a browser tool can provide.
Can I sign on a phone or tablet?
Yes. The drawing tool works with touch input, so you can sign with your finger on a phone or with a stylus on a tablet — often producing a more natural-looking signature than a mouse.
Can I add multiple signatures?
Yes. You can place your signature on multiple pages, or add different signatures (for example, initials on every page and a full signature on the last page).
Is my signature stored anywhere?
No. Your signature is created in your browser session and embedded into the PDF. It is never sent to any server or stored for later use.
