How the conversion works
For reflowable text, the tool reads the PDF's text layer, detects headings, paragraphs, lists and tables, drops page numbers and running headers, and splits the book into chapters at the headings. For page images, it renders every page as a high-resolution image. Either way the result is packaged as a standard EPUB 3 file with the required metadata, table of contents and navigation, so any compliant reader can open it.
Reflowable text is best for reading: it adapts to the screen, the font size and night mode. Page images are best when the layout matters — multi-column pages, mathematical notation, infographics and dense tables come through intact, but the text inside the images can't reflow or be searched. Scanned pages have no text layer, so they are kept as images even in a reflowable book.

Will the EPUB look exactly like the original PDF?
Choose Page images for that: every page becomes a fixed-layout page that looks exactly like the PDF, but it won't reflow when you change the font size. Reflowable text instead adapts to any screen and font size; headings, paragraphs, lists and tables are kept, while the page layout and pictures inside the pages are not.
Can I read it on a Kindle?
Yes, through Amazon's Send to Kindle (by email, app or website), which accepts EPUB files and delivers them to your Kindle and the Kindle app. Kindle devices don't open EPUB files copied over USB.
Is there a page limit?
No hard limit. The tool processes every page in the PDF. Very long documents will produce larger EPUB files, but e-reader apps handle large files well.
