Control the hidden layers inside a PDF
Some PDFs are more than a flat stack of pages: they contain optional content layers, the same idea as layers in a design program, where different pieces of content can be switched on or off independently. A technical drawing might keep its dimensions, annotations and background grid on separate layers; a map might separate roads, labels and terrain; a multilingual document might carry each language on its own layer. Most readers only ever see the default view and never realise the extra content is there. This tool lists those layers by name and lets you show or hide each one, so you can see what's really in the file and decide what to keep.
Toggling a layer updates the page in front of you, which makes it easy to understand what each layer contributes before you commit. When you've set the visibility the way you want, you can save a PDF that reflects those choices — keeping the layers that matter and removing the ones that don't.
When layers are worth flattening away
Layers are powerful for the person who created the document, but they can be a nuisance for everyone downstream.
