Won't inverting the colors make photos look weird?
That's exactly why the default keeps images untouched. The tool detects where embedded photos and graphics sit on each page and, after inverting the text and background, paints those image regions back in their original colors — so a photo stays a photo instead of turning into a negative. You can switch this off if you actually want everything inverted.
Will the text still be selectable?
No. To invert the colors reliably the tool re-renders each page as an image, so the dark PDF is picture-based rather than text-based. If you need selectable text, keep the original and use this copy just for comfortable reading.
Is this the same as my reader's night mode?
It's similar, but it produces an actual dark PDF file you can open anywhere — on a device or app whose reader has no night mode, or to share a dark-friendly copy. Your reader's night mode only changes how it displays the file on that one app.
Is my document uploaded anywhere?
No. Every page is rendered and inverted locally in your browser, so even private documents never leave your device.
