Separating combined pages into individual sheets
When you scan an open book on a flatbed scanner, the scanner captures both facing pages as a single wide image. The resulting PDF shows two-page spreads rather than individual pages, which makes reading on a screen uncomfortable — you are constantly scrolling sideways and losing your place. Similarly, A3 documents printed on A4 with two pages per sheet need separating if you want to work with each page independently.
This tool cuts each page of your PDF into halves or quarters. For scanned books, a left/right split turns each two-page spread into two individual pages in the correct reading order. For large-format pages, a top/bottom or four-quadrant split produces A4-sized sections you can print on a standard printer. The operation is applied uniformly to every page in the document.
How the splitting works
The tool divides each page's content area along the axis you chose. A left/right split creates two pages, each showing one half of the original content. A top/bottom split does the same vertically. A four-quadrant split produces four pages per original page. The content is not re-rendered or re-compressed — the tool adjusts each new page's crop box to show only its portion of the original content.
Because the split is based on cropping rather than re-drawing, the operation is lossless and fast. Text remains sharp, images retain their original quality, and the file size is roughly unchanged. The only visual change is that each new page shows half (or a quarter) of what the original showed.

Before splitting, check that the pages are aligned consistently — if the book was slightly shifted during scanning, the split line may not fall exactly on the spine for every page. In that case, crop the pages first to standardise the split point. And for scanned books with occasional single pages (like a full-page illustration), consider splitting only the spread pages by extracting them, splitting those, and re-merging with the single pages in the correct order.
