Filling out PDF forms without installing software
PDF forms are everywhere — tax returns, insurance claims, job applications, school enrolment, customs declarations. The fields are interactive: text boxes you can type into, checkboxes you can tick, dropdowns you can select from. But many free PDF viewers only let you view forms without filling them, and professional editors cost money. This tool fills that gap: you open the PDF in your browser, fill in every field, and download the completed form — no software to install, no account to create, and no data uploaded anywhere.
You can also flatten the completed form, which burns the answers into the page as permanent text and removes the interactive fields. This is important when submitting forms to organisations that require a non-editable copy, or when archiving a completed application where the answers must not change.
How form detection and flattening work
When you upload a PDF, the tool reads its form dictionary — the internal data structure that defines each field's type, position, name, and options. Text fields, checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns are rendered as interactive controls you can fill in the browser. As you type or select, the values are written into the form data within the local copy of the PDF.
Flattening takes each field's current value, draws it onto the page as static text or a checked box image, and then removes the field definition entirely. The visual appearance is identical, but there is no longer an interactive element — the value is part of the page content, like printed text. This is a one-way operation: once flattened, the field cannot be made interactive again.
Common scenarios and tips
Taxpayers fill out government forms and flatten them before uploading to a portal. HR departments fill in onboarding paperwork and distribute the completed PDFs. Students complete scholarship applications and save a flat copy for their records. Contractors fill out safety checklists on-site using a phone browser.
If a form uses dropdown fields, make sure to select the correct option before flattening — once flattened, you cannot change the selection. For forms with many pages, scroll through the entire document to ensure every field is filled before saving. And if you need to send the form to someone else for their signature, save without flattening so the signature field remains interactive for them.

What does 'flatten' mean?
Flattening burns the form answers into the page content and removes the interactive fields. The result looks the same but the values can no longer be changed — useful when submitting a completed form that should not be altered.
Will it detect all form fields?
It detects standard AcroForm fields — text inputs, checkboxes, radio buttons, dropdowns, and signature fields. XFA forms (a legacy Adobe format used by some government agencies) have limited support in browsers.
Can I save a partially filled form and come back later?
You can download the filled PDF at any time with the fields still editable, then re-open it later to continue filling. Flattening is only applied when you explicitly choose it.
Is my data kept private?
Yes. All form filling and flattening happens in your browser. The PDF and the data you enter are never sent to any server.
